-- Introduction --

BlogNinja is a piece of software intended for the writing and publishing of weblogs. It is used to create and manage a database of entries (stored in XML and therefore portable) which can then be rendered (via a template) into HTML.

Holy crap

Sometimes I stun myself with my skills. On other occasions I'm more impressed by the crappiness of my ideas.
I wanted the program to know when you'd changed the database so that it could make sure you didn't lose information by quiting.
Most programs do this.
Easily.
Christ I went through some sort of dramatic rigmarole but now it functions corrently. This means that the oft promised but thus far not delivered next release is coming very soon.
Hoorah!

Feel the glow.

ftp

Appears to be working. I've made some changes to the way uploads are handled in the interface. Release "soon".

ftp

Seems to work.
But I just don't know whether to do another release. The thing is there is no error catching code in Blogninja and I have no idea what the negative aspects of that will be. I will probably do another release though.

More changes

Had a bit of a change of mind on the "save at every available opportunity" strategy. The problem is that I don't know what the clearest strategy is in terms of UI. Now it will save automatically if you commit changes or a new entry or create webpages but not if you delete an entry or change any of the settings. Is this a good idea?

New changes

Ftp still doesn't work but will do soon. There is no longer a "save" button. Changes are automatically saved whenever the user commits, or deletes, an entry or when web pages are created.

ftp

It's probably comin at ya some time soon. Unfortunately not for this site. It uses SSH. Anyone know of any good Python SSH libraries? Or am I showing my security related ignorance?

New release imminent

Fixed a silly bug. Nothing hugely important.
Maybe I'll look into using my ISP's webspace for my experiments with ftp. Then I can just get things to update with a snap of the fingers.

Zineophile2 work

The sequel to Zineophile is currently coming along okay. I find updating this thing a bit pointless because I can't imagine anyone is actually reading it but that's okay too. Hopefully Zineophile 2 will be good enough to attract attention.
