-- Introduction --

BlogNinja is a piece of software intended for the writing and publishing of weblogs. It is used to create and manage a database of entries (stored in XML and therefore portable) which can then be rendered (via a template) into HTML.

Couple of small but important bugs squished.
Three downloads!
Hooray!
But no one has joined the mailing list or pointed out the (annoying and obvious) bugs that I just fixed.
Aaaaaanyway. New release should be hitting you.
I'm currently focused on my webzine software. The various ideas from that will certainly find their wicked way into BlogNinja eventualy.
Things to look for:
  1. wxWindows based gui
  2. arbitrary fields in each entry (so you can say that you want a title field and a date field and an update field etc.)
  3. Anything you want (within reason)

As seen on NTK: Psyco.
Apparently it speeds up Python programs. I haven't used it yet and it's probably not relevant to this project but my little AI simulation might benefit from it.

Wow. I just noticed that someone has actually downloaded BlogNinja. If the person in question is reading this could you please email me? It doesn't matter whether you use it or not, I'd just like to know what you think.

Also you still can't put any non ASCII symbols into the database.
Darn it to hell.

I can't help wondering whether the new wipe button's function is going to make sense to new users. Of course there are no actual users other than me. So it's probably not worth bothering.

Ah, bugs. So many to fix, so little time. I just noticed one where letters were being clipped in the entry window.

Made a release then hated it. Soon a new release that adds very little funtionality but works very differently internally will appear. I am much happier with it.
The most annoying things right now are the limitations of teh prefs window (this will change) and the fact that some of the settings...uh...don't actually work. As such.

Oh, also I'm thinking that I ought to change the XML format so that it "knows" when an entry has been written as an archive.

No progress for a couple of days. I'm considering ripping out the DOM based XML stuff and replacing it with SAX code but I can't find any good example code to work from so I think I'll stick with it as it is.
I'm about to construct a readme file. It will be very simplistic.

Blogninja seems to support archiving now. This indicates a release will be leaping at ya very soon indeed.

Messed with the page creation code and it is now much shorter and better. This prepares the code for the addition of the beautiful (and greatly anticipated) archiving feature.

Added a couple more controls. This is a fraught process but at least my old databases don't degrade because I can't edit them.
XML forever!
Or at least until MS eat it alive.

I have increasing concerns about my hard drive. While there haven't been any signs of collapse it is getting on a bit now. I think I ought to just do a release of the code as it is (i.e. crappy) that way at least it's out there and I can't lose it.
